THE AVAILABLE ENSEMBLES ARE:

PERCUSSION AROUND THE WORLD

The ESO Percussion Ensemble spins the globe and visits countries around the world. They show off the incredible variety of instruments that make up the percussion family and introduce students to characteristic music of the countries they visit.

THE MAGIC OF RHYTHM

This inventive program takes listeners on a magical and educational journey that demonstrates how rhythm creates magic in music as well as our everyday lives. Accompanied by the audience’s participation, the stage comes alive with exotic instruments from around the world, delightful music, and fantastic new magical illusions guaranteed to amaze.

ESO ORCHESTRA IDOL

In this new program developed by ESO musicians, students learn about the different instrument families of the orchestra through an interactive “karaoke”-style program. Each musician will perform on various instruments within each family to show the similarities and differences between them.

THE MUSIC OF HOLLYWOOD

The ESO String Quartet will introduce the students to movie music old and new and discuss how Hollywood composers use string instruments to compliment what is happening on the screen. Some of the music performed will be from Psycho, Jaws and Pirates of the Caribbean.

MADRIGALS TO JAZZ AND EVERYTHING IN-BETWEEN

From the top of the piccolo trumpet to the depths of the tuba, the ESO Brass will entertain using only their lips (along with instruments, a nifty rope trick, and music from Gabrieli to Bernstein) to demonstrate how music has been made for over 300 years.

PETER AND THE WOLF

The ESO Woodwind Quintet and narrator present Prokofiev’s classic tale Peter and the Wolf. Student volunteers are chosen to act out the story during the concert. This fun-filled program entertains and involves the students!

EACH ENSEMBLE PROVIDES TWO BACK-TO-BACK 45-MINUTE PROGRAMS PER VISIT.
