Beethoven and Mozart

ESO favorites Tania Miller and Isabella Lippi team up in a program featuring the music of Mozart and Beethoven. Originally dedicated to Napoleon, Beethoven retracted the dedication upon receiving the news that the revolutionary French ruler and erstwhile torchbearer of anti-monarchical ideals had declared himself Emperor of France. Despite the retraction, Beethoven’s Third Symphony retained its motives of triumph and heroism, giving it the enduring subtitle “Eroica” or “Heroic.”
