Mark Bettcher and the Reunion Jazz Ensemble featuring jazz trumpet legend Marvin Stamm will provide an evening of exciting and adventurous music.
One of the most sought after session horn players on trumpet, Marvin Stamm has left a giant footprint in jazz, rock, blues, and popular music. Beginning as a soloist with the Stan Kenton Orchestra and touring with Woody Herman, Marvin settled in New York in 1966 and performed and recorded over the next five decades with virtually everyone from the Thad Jones and Mel Lewis Jazz Orchestra to pop music icons Paul Simon and Billy Joel. “Always boiling with intensity, color and passion” (New York Times) Marvin Stamm’s virtuosic versatility is sure to electrify the audience.
The program will include an eclectic array of jazz, blues, swing and Latin grooves that connect to audiences of all ages and tastes. From the book of Count Basie to the passionate artistry of the legendary Marvin Stamm, it will be an evening to remember!
The ESO Presents program is a unique jazz concert experience featuring only Marvin Stamm and Mark Bettcher and the Reunion Jazz Ensemble. The Elgin Symphony Orchestra will not be onstage for this concert.
