Everyone loves our new Inside the Music programs.  These “Music 101” events are designed especially for classical music newcomers, and are casual and relaxed.  Our regular ESO fans love discovering new musical insights as well!  Music Director Andrew Grams leads this journey through a musical masterpiece, with the ESO playing excerpts throughout.  After intermission, the audience experiences the entire work with a deeper, richer connection to the music.  Drinks and food are welcome in the hall.  Snacks provided by Cafe Revive and Mama Lee’s Gourmet Popcorn.

Dive deep into Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Symphony No. 41 “Jupiter” Symphony. Considered by many as the greatest symphony by the greatest composer that ever lived, it was Mozart’s longest and last. Lore has it that a music publisher supplied its nickname because the powerful piece reminded him of Jupiter and his thunderbolts.  With near unanimous superlative reviews, the work has become a canonized masterwork of the symphonic repertoire.

Book Drive for Bernie’s Book Bank

Elgin Symphony Orchestra is celebrating National Reading Month by holding a book drive to benefit Bernie’s Book Bank!  During our March 2-3 and March 22-24 concerts, patrons are able to donate new or gently used children’s books (for ages birth to sixth grade), which will be distributed to low-income children in the Chicagoland area.  No textbooks, dictionaries, activity books, coloring books, reference material, religious books or foreign language books (dual language is ok) will be accepted.  Please help us collect 500 books during the month of March.
