Fall 2020 Announcement

The COVID-19 pandemic has caused much heartache across the arts community.  Being able to congregate in large groups to experience live performances is something we yearn for at this time.

Since the shut-down in mid-March, the ESO staff has been monitoring and evaluating the pandemic on a daily basis.  Due to capacity limits mandated in Phase 4, ESO will be unable to safely hold full orchestra concerts with an audience.  At this time, our Board of Directors has made the decision to cancel our fall 2020 concerts from September 2020 to December 2020 at Hemmens Cultural Center in Elgin, North Shore Center for the Performing Arts in Skokie and Raue Center for the Arts in Crystal Lake.

ESO has worked together with the musicians and community partners to bring you three limited capacity events in the fall.  These new limited capacity events will be available in-person to small groups or online. The ESO board and staff want to make our concert experiences as safe and enjoyable as possible.

Safety Protocols

The safety of our patrons, musicians and staff has been and will be our top priority. ESO does not own its own performance space, so we will be coordinating with each rental facility regarding cleaning and sanitizing practices and the proper amount of fresh and recycled airflow in their ventilation systems. We continue to monitor best practices from reputable sources on a daily basis.  Every patron attending an ESO event during the pandemic will be notified 10-14 days prior to each event date via email, phone and/or mail of safety protocols for their upcoming event.  Safety protocols will be based on the current Illinois Phase and CDC guidelines at that time and may or may not include temperature checks, health screening questions, mandatory wearing of face covering, socially distanced seating, timed arrival, restroom or concession breaks by seating area and self-parking (as examples).  We will adhere to the policies mandated by local and state health officials as they develop.

Will the New Fall Concerts be Available to View Online?

The new limited capacity fall concerts will be recorded and available for viewing online regardless of which Phase Illinois is in at the time of each concert.  Information on how to view will be sent via email when content is ready.  Viewing fee may apply.

Will the Cancelled Concerts be Rescheduled?

At this time, we are working on rescheduling The Planets, The Music of John Williams and Jeans ‘n Classics: Queen & Journey for the 2021/22 or 2022/23 seasons.  Many factors go into rescheduling events.  Join our email list for concert updates.

What About the Spring 2021 Concerts and Tickets?

At this time, no changes have been made to the ESO concerts scheduled from January through May 2021.  The ESO staff will continue to monitor the pandemic throughout the fall.  Physical tickets for the 2021 concerts will not be mailed out in August 2020 as originally planned.  Ticket holders for the 2021 concerts will be notified of any schedule changes and/or safety protocols by November 2020.  If no changes need to be made to the spring 2021 concert schedule, then physical tickets and donor benefits will be mailed shortly after our November 2020 announcement.
