Program Information
Embrace the holiday spirit at a community sing-along of selections from Handel’s renowned Messiah!
Started by a group of community members in 2022, the Elgin Sing-Along Messiah is an interactive community sing-along that raises awareness and funding for Elgin charities while showcasing the talent of Elgin-area musicians and vocalists, including the Elgin Symphony Orchestra, the Elgin Youth Symphony Orchestra, Midwest Opera Theatre, and members of the Elgin Master Chorale.
As an audience member, you become part of the production, singing the choruses. No musical experience is necessary. The Elgin Sing-Along Messiah is just over one hour long, making it perfect for all ages.
Ticket Information
Seating this year is general admission; vocal range sections, where members of the Elgin Master Chorale will assist in leading the sections in the choruses, will be available.
Tickets are $5 (plus a $2 fee). Children 12 and under are free.
Proceeds and free-will donations benefit Elgin Sing-Along Messiah’s Charity Partner, Well Child Center.
Charity Partner
Well Child Center will use the donations to stock its Food for Families emergency food pantry, run in partnership with Food for Greater Elgin, with costly essential items for low-income pregnant women and families with children that are difficult to get through donations or the foodbank network, such as baby and toddler food, infant formula, diapers, wipes, and hygiene items, as well as nutritious, culturally sensitive foods and fresh fruits, vegetables, and meat.
Since 2022, the Elgin Sing-Along Messiah has raised $17,000 for nonprofit organizations that provide human services to Elgin residents. Those who cannot attend but would like to donate to Well Child Center can do so on the ElginSing-AlongMessiah.org website.
